Brazilian Erva Mate (Chimarrão)

Chimarrão is a style of Erva Mate most typically used in the southern Brazilian region of Rio Grande do Sul. Erva Mate is a herbal tea drink used all over South America and in some Middle Eastern countries as well because of its strong and refreshing taste and numerous health benefits. It is truly a wonder drink that is also very energizing due to its caffeine.

You will need:
Erva Mate
Cuia Gourd
Bomba Metal Straw
*If you can’t find these locally, you can buy them together here on Amazon*
1 cup water

Directions:
1) Heat the water in a saucepan until it begins boiling. Turn off the heat immediately. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
2) Pour the Erva Mate into the cuia until it reaches two thirds of the way to the top. Then pour the water down the side of the cuia as it is tilted.
3) Mix the contents together with the straw. Sip and enjoy.
